The City of Flagstaff’s Beautification, Arts & Sciences is starting 2026 off strong, with several large-scale projects underway. A sculpture proposal by artists Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan with landscape design by The WLB Group for a promontory at East Cedar Avenue and North West Street, part of the Spruce Wash Wedge Detention Project, is underway. Lowell Observatory, scientists and guests officially dedicated the Tombaugh Telescope during the fourth annual I Heart Pluto Festival, Feb. 18-20. Sculptor Joseph McShane’s style might be considered other worldly. He has engaged outer space and the sun to co-create with him and is the first artist to have his work leave the planet and travel with astronauts on board the Space Shuttle.
