The U.S. Senate today approved an amendment offered by Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) prohibiting Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac executives from receiving future multi-million dollar bonuses as long as the government-backed mortgage companies remain in federal conservatorship. Vigil Planned for AZ Rep. Gabrielle Giffords
A Vigil for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords will be held at 6:00 tonight at the State Capitol. A similar vigil, also at 6:00 p.m. is planned at Flagstaff City Hall. Giffords was shot this morning while meeting with constituents outside a Safeway in north Tucson. She survived today's surgery and is said to be in critical condition at University Medical Center. 13 people were wounded and five were killed after a gunman opened fire at the public gathering.
