As businesses continue to struggle with the effects of COVID-19, some are looking for ways to help. After a 12-month environmental assessment process, Coconino National Forest approved the replacement of Arizona Snowbowl’s Agassiz Chairlift. Approval couldn’t come at a better time. Snowbowl officials say a heavy-lifting helicopter was used today to assist with the new chairlift being erected on Humphrey's Peak. The new chair, the first one on the mountain to accommodate four people, is scheduled to be open by Christmas. Arizona Snowbowl Receiving Fresh Snow
With the February snowstorm now moving out of the region, Arizona Snowbowl near Flagstaff has reported at least 36 inches of new snow. One foot of new snow fell within the past 24 hours. All lifts at the Flagstaff area ski resort are operational. Roads to the ski resort are snow packed; four wheel drive vehicles or chains are suggested for travel. Appeals Court Rules in Favor of Snowbowl
The latest lawsuit aimed at stalling development plans at Arizona Snowbow has been shot down by a federal appeals court. A ruling today says the group Save the Peaks Coalition and private citizens who filed the lawsuite grossly abused the judicial process. Today’s ruling upholds a previous decision by a lower court which said the U.S. Forest Service adequately evaluated the effects of snowmaking using treated wastewater.
